The myth of Shangri-la was born in 1921 with the novel by James Hilton's "Lost Horizon", where it's the paradise in the foothill of mountains with snow peaks, far far away isolated from outside world. From then Shangri-la becomes a symbol for oriental exoticism and nirvana. It's a hidden and peaceful valley of all mankind's dream...
For a long time, various of places close to Himalayas or Tibet claimed themselves as the central place of "Shangri-la". But they are all pointed to southwest part of China, where neighbor with each other among Sichuan, Yunnan provinces and Tibet. Not until 2001, formerly called Zhongdian county from Yunnan province renamed itself as "Shangri-la". Since then, tourism and travelers from all of the world come into this tiny beautiful place, like never before...
